Retired Academics Group Meeting Info
The place for most general meetings is the Theatre Room in "Windermere on the Mount" which is the large building on the south-east corner of
Richmond Street and Windermere road (See map below). You can park in the lots facing Richmond Street. Then you must go to the south side of the building to a door
under a large tower with a cross. Ask reception for direction to the Theatre Room.
The times are indicated on the information sheet for each event.
The U.W.O. Retired Academics Group is an informal association of retired faculty
members and their spouses, meeting once a month to renew old friendships and make new ones.
All meetings feature an invited speaker, very often a member of the U.W.O. community, talking
on a wide variety of topics of current or historic interest. Twice a year, in December and April,
our meetings takes the form of a buffet luncheon.
There is no formal “membership” or registration of this group, all retired faculty members,
spouses, and widow/widowers are welcome to attend as many meeting as they wish. There is no
charge for the general meetings, the luncheon is now $30 per person. We meet on the third Friday
of each month from September to April (see schedule page on this site).
The two luncheon meetings are held at 12:00 noon at either Windermere Manor U.W.O
. Research Park, Windermere Road (see map below) or Ivey Spencer Leadership Centre (see map below) with a lecture following the luncheon.
Advance registration is required because the restaurant has to be told the number of expected
participants. It would be appreciated if those intending to come to the luncheon would let a
member of the Social Committee know about 2-3 weeks in advance. While advance payment
is not required, we may ask for payment for any who are ‘no-shows’ after they have signified
their intention of coming to the luncheon.
